Pass on kindness with these practical Valentine’s acts of kindness that inspire and spread compassion.

14 Valentine’s Acts of Kindness Ideas for Kids

1. Don’t complain for a full day.

One of the easiest (ok…hardest) things you can do is try not to complain for a full day!

2. Leave uplifting notes in public areas.

A kind word can go far to uplift someone’s day! Leave positive, uplifting notes in public areas. You can leave them in library books, in parks, and more!

3. Go out of your way to do something nice

Shovel snow for someone, do a chore unexpectedly – the options are endless.

4. Donate allowance

Donate allowance to a noble charity, or perhaps dedicate a certain amount of money towards sponsoring a child!

5. Create care packages

Create care packages for the homeless, veterans, and more!

PS–Make sure not to put scented items (dryer sheets, soap) in it, as the scent often leaks into food and other items and ruins it. Here is a great list of what to do or what not to do.

6. Donate to a local food bank

There are many small, non-profit charities that are in search of donors, with food being a top priority. Donate to a local food bank!

7. Volunteer

Even when money isn’t readily available, try giving back with your time, through volunteering.

8. Write a handwritten letter

In the digital age, practice the long lost tradition of handwritten letters!

9. Visit a nursing home

People in nursing homes often don’t get visitors, so spending a few afternoons there can definitely lift moods.

10. Donate unused clothes and toys

Purge your wardrobe and donate unused clothes and toys! If you can, look for small, local non-profits to donate to.

11. Be kind to younger siblings

Read a book to younger siblings, do an extra chore, or help with math homework.

12. Pass on a compliment

Spread compassion and kindness with your words! Pass on a truthful, meaningful compliment or two today.

13. Bake cookies for firefighters and police officers

Bake cookies for the people who keep us safe: firefighters and police officers!

14. Continue acts of kindness

Kindness doesn’t have to just be during February. Through small actions throughout our day, we can learn how to treat each other with respect.
