Juggling homeschool, sports, extra-curricular activities, and daily life can be such a challenge. It seems no matter how hard we try, there is always an exhaustive to-do list. Here are some ways to make more time in your homeschool.

5 Ways to Make More Time in Your Homeschool

1. Don’t stress over the little things.

Sometimes (I’m crazy guilty of this!) we can stress too much over the little things, which takes away time from the bigger things! Once we stop dwelling on the little things (i.e. a bad homeschool day, too much to do today) we can focus on what matters.

2. Let go of some responsibilities.

As hard as it can be, I started to regain my sanity when I started dropping some responsibilities. One of my favorite quotes is, “You can do anything; you cannot do everything.” Prioritize your responsibilities and your to-do list, and work from there. If you cannot get through your fractions lesson in XYZ time, let go of it for today and try again the next day.

3. Don’t compare.

As homeschoolers, we can face a lot of pressure from other homeschoolers, Facebook’s idea of the perfect homeschooler, the public school system, and frankly, ourselves. We wonder consistently, “Am I doing enough in my homeschool?”

No matter who you are comparing yourself to, defeating comparison can help you focus on your own goals and give you more time to focus on you, your family, and your homeschool instead of constantly worrying about what others are doing.

4. Get a good planner.

Being semi OCD at times, when I would write out my to-do list, I would stop worrying about forgetting things on said to-do list. It also helped me not forget about important events or deadlines. Actually write down your to-do list for the day and week. Work through your daily to-do list first, and then move onto the weekly to-do list.

5. Try homeschooling at different times of the day.

One of the benefits of homeschooling is flexibility! If morning homeschool just isn’t working, try it in the afternoon or evening! A successful homeschool day will vary for each family, so sometimes feeling stressed in your homeschool day can be solved by restructuring your day.

Bonus: Give yourself grace.

Homeschooling is very rewarding, but it comes with many challenges along the way. Give yourself grace on the rough and stressful days. Remember that this is one day out of many, and sometimes you might not get everything done!
