It’s spring here. The weather was cool for a while, but now it’s heating up. Soon it will be above 90º every single day and my kids are going to need an incentive to get outside.

We will spend a lot of time at our local pool this summer, but what will we do on the days no one wants to hit the pool? Or what about when somebody poops in the pool – it happens every.single.year? Or on those days when they close the pool because they hear thunder and the storm is 40 miles away and goes around us?

I refuse to let my kids hang out inside on electronics all summer long! On the days that are cooler, I will take them hiking. On rainy days, we will find things to do inside (probably LEGOs). But getting them outside in the sunshine and heat on the other in-between days will be a bit of a challenge. I’m sure they will claim boredom with their bikes and rollerblades and toys.

That’s why I thought of the idea to find a bunch of outdoor games they can play.

Each of these links will take you to the article which lists the game, supplies needed to create it, as well as a basic rundown of the game rules. Have enough supplies for the neighbor kids – because these games are just too cool! In fact, this is the coolest list ever. I wanted to put Very Cool! after every single one! I finally gave up. Just read them all – you are sure to find several games and fun things you would love to do for your kids.

29 Camp Games with printable directions for all! from Ultimate Camp Resource. This website lists a massive number games, dividing them up into categories such as “high activity” or “large group.” Many of these outdoor games for kids do not require additional supplies, just the children and an area to play.
