So you want to buy a purse but you don’t have the funds for a designer purse of epic cost. I am right there with you. Even though I participate in many giveaways for COACH purses like the one at the end of this post, I don’t have the funds to buy one for myself. I just cannot justify that cost!
So I’ve been stalking sales and have nearly given up on finding cheap designer purses I actually like.
I’ve figured out that if you are looking for cheap designer purses, that could mean one of two things: 1) You could actually be looking for bargains on real designer purses – like super low, blow out prices on purses like COACH brand, or 2) You could actually be looking for cheap purses – $40 or less – that look like designer purses but aren’t really truly brand name designers.
I’ve heard that there might be invite-only outlet sales for designer purses but so far I have not had any luck actually shopping at one of those. And I know that outlet stores have some pretty good deals on real designer purses near Black Friday and other holidays.
But for real, I’m mostly focused on number two–finding inexpensive purses that look as stylish and fun as real designer purses but without the hefty price tag. Design on a budget!
The first place I look when it is time to buy a new purse (and so far I’ve just flat out refused to spend more than $40 on a purse) is clearance racks. I peruse the clearance at Kohls, Ross, and other similar store models, looking from something with good lines and a shape I like.
I tend to not like a bunch of added metal though that does seem pretty trendy right now. I especially do not like gold metal embellishments. So I’m looking for cute, interesting, well-shaped purses that don’t have brass tacks all the way around. If I don’t find something I love, I just don’t buy anything.
If I’ve exhausted all the stores in my area and my purse is beyond waiting because it is falling apart, I start looking online for cheap designer purses that look interesting. It’s tricky buying purses online because it is hard to ascertain quality, but if you aren’t trying to buy name brand you don’t have to worry that it is a cheap knock-off. You already know it is! I’ve definitely found a few gems that way.
Here are some examples of cheap red totes similar in size and shape to the COACH tote we are giving away at the end of this post. You can click directly on the image if you want to shop.

My favorite fashion tip….always go with what you are COMFORTABLE wearing. If you are trendy yet not truly reflecting yourself, your inner beauty and personality will not shine through.
Diana says
I’m needing a new purse and this is a nice classic look that would look good with anything.
Darcy Carmichael says
Favorite fashion tip-keep it simple!
Jamie says
My best fashion tip is to buy clothes that just fit you. Not bigger, not too tight. It makes you look slimmer, and well put together no matter what you’re wearing. I have always struggled with this by buying things too big trying to hide a bit of a tummy. It seems like common sense, but look around. ?
Christina Lyon says
Love the idea a Coach purse

Great-looking, classic purse! ?
Alice Manville says
I usually check out TJMAXX clearance for a new purse. I’ve found some real jems there. The key is to always be looking…or more accurately look frequently. Even if my purse is fine, I’ll still look (I’m on the hunt for the “ideal” purse). Once I see some things I like, I check back to see if and when it’s marked down. If I don’t get it, I figure it wasn’t meant to be, but I have a better idea of the features I love or want.
Melanie Reynolds says
My favorite fashion tip is definitely lipstick. It really brightens up the whole face! It’s the last thing I put on but the one beauty item that ties everything else together.

My fashion tip is to look in the mirror before you eat breakfast and before you are going anywhere. Then you can see if your cheeks need a little color or your hair needs a brush or if you need to throw a simple necklace around your neck.

Summer fashion tip: Instead of adding accessories to a plain outfit, choose to wear a fun pattern to spice it up. Less things to weigh you down and keep the sweat to a minimum. 😉
Kim Brooks says
My summer fashion tip would be To stay cool on steamy days, it’s best seek out materials like cotton—pima or supima is best, but any variety will do—as the fibers are hollow in the center, allowing them to absorb perspiration and release it quickly.
Lynda says
I love ❤️ nice purses! I’ve seldom found any cheap ones that can stand up to the wear and tear I give them.
Teresa Jennings says
This is so perfect!
Kristen says
My fashion tip – be comfortable. Now that I have become a mom, I find it is more important to be comfortable and wear light clothing as I will probably be carrying a child or their stuff.
Jessica Evans says
My summer tip: wear things that are lighter. Things that make you smile; so look through your closet and pull out things you don’t enjoy anymore and DONATE them! Only wear what you enjoy this summer… when it’s hot, and you’re sweating- you don’t also want to be weighed down with what you hate wearing!
Gina Glenn says
