Do you have a party planner in the family? My daughter Anna is turning into a bona fide party planner. She learned the beauty and value of a well-planned party from the mother of her best friend a few years ago. This amazing woman (and my own dear friend) planned the.best.parties.ever – and invited Anna to join in the fun. The girls were given tasks like cleaning off the patio, decorating tables, and more – and they had so much fun!
Sadly, our friends moved away and eventually we did too, but Anna has never forgotten this deep-seated love of parties. Especially random parties that don’t mark super-special occasions. In our new neighborhood, she is fond of throwing tea parties just like she used to have with her best friend. Summer teas on the front lawn and winter teas in our dining room. She also plans special dance parties for her younger siblings – inviting them all to show up in her room at 7 a.m. for dancing-at-dawn and a fun breakfast before Mom wakes up.
Anna is my party planner. And every once in a while we decide to go all out and do something fabulous. (Which is why you will find a free set of gorgeous party planning printables for your tween at the bottom of this page!)
A few months ago, I found a few fabulous books from the FaithGirlz line for Anna which are right up her alley – and perfect for party planning! And after looking the books over Anna has so many ideas for parties to host, I can’t even keep up with her.
Our next party (coming up in just two weeks) is a Girl Cousins Party complete with new hair styles, special recipes, and fun quiz activities from the books already planned out and ready to go. I’ll give you a quick rundown of the books, because I think every tween party planner like mine is going to LOVE them. (And I also think that it is important to encourage our kids to do what they love, and do it really well. These books helped me help my daughter party!)
Anna decided right away that trying new hair styles would be on the agenda for the cousins party. These girls already love to give each other “style makeovers” and having some guided options for hair is going to be fabulous. In fact, Anna loves the FaithGirlz Best Hair Book so much, she has been trying out a bunch of different styles to choose her favorites! (Like every single day.) Today she informed me that she had tried a “variation” on one of the styles in the book to add a braid. I love that this book is getting her actively involved in taking care of her appearance.
Apparently using the FaithGirlz Big Book of Quizzes could not wait for our cousins party. I heard Anna has plans to use these for fun conversations during her Skype convos with her best friend. The quizzes are funny and just about perfect for tween girls having a party.
All we had to do was come up with some pretty invitations, decorations, a theme, and a few other things to make our party extra special. Anna had a hard time choosing a theme from the Best Party Book Ever because she loves them all. In the end, I think she’s decided on the star style swap theme because of all the fancy hair and makeup.
Once we had all these activities chosen for our party, we set out to make some gorgeous invitations and decorations for the big day. We are incorporating the Bible verse segment for Jeremiah 31: “I have loved you with an everlasting love” into our posters and decorations – because all girls should know they are loved and have value no matter their outward appearance.
This printable includes pages to print a guest list, menu plan, invitations, pretty poster party favors, a banner, a matching grown-up coloring page that says “You are Loved,” labels to print (and label all the things), and MORE!
