I’ve had this most gorgeous book in my possession for about two months.  It is positively breathtaking.  The story of Ruth is timeless and well-known, but you haven’t ever seen the story told like it is in I Am Ruth by Kenneth Berg and Brenda Duff.  I’m going to try to explain in words, but pictures are worth a thousand words in this case.  This is one of those books you have to see.

I Am Ruth

What makes the book so beautiful? I’m glad you asked. The book is full of photography. And not just any photography — real people dressed in period clothing, photographed on location by an outstanding photographer. Actors and Actresses portray the characters of the story.

I Am Ruth

And it is not just any story. Ruth’s story spans the story of all of Israel’s history from Abraham to the birth of Jesus. This is her story. But it is also God’s story. As the book presents the story of Ruth, it also presents the back story of Abraham and weaves the history into the narrative. As the story progresses, the connections to Christ’s birth are shown as well. We look back — and then we look forward with the life and faith of Ruth as the pivot point. The result is stunning and informative at the same time.

After each chapter where the story of Ruth is told through pictures and storytelling prose with Scripture quotations, the entire text of Ruth from the Scriptures is included.  Fittingly, I Am Ruth concludes with the genealogy chart from Abraham to Jesus and this call to Faith.

“God used the kinsman redeemer Boaz to demonstrate how He gives to those who seek what has been left for them and fills their arms with His bountiful harvest, a provision of love through salvation in His Son Jesus Christ.

From here, we see God’s beautiful story continue through the blended family lineage that brings us the gift of His only begotten Son, who remains forever matchless!”

I Am Ruth

My own pictures do not do this book justice. The text, which appears blurry in my photos, is crystal clear and is as beautiful as the photography.

My Bottom Line:  As always I am seriously impressed with the depth and beauty of the books published by New Leaf Publishing and Master Books.  I highly recommend this book and will be purchasing at least one copy as a Christmas gift.  Read what my friends are saying about I Am Ruth.
