Crock-Pot SCCPVL610-S Programmable Cook and Carry Oval Slow Cooker Review

Price point: $49.99

The SCCPVL610-S Programmable Cook and Carry Oval Slow Cooker by Crock-Pot has a lot of great features – and an extremely attractive price tag. Outstanding functionality and an affordable price make it the bestselling product in the entire slow cooker category on Amazon.

While your financial investment is at the low end with this unit, this 6-quart slow cooker can prepare one-pot meals for 7 or more people, and even cook a 6-pound roast.

So, let’s take a closer look at exactly why this budget priced, but high-performance slow cooker is so popular with consumers.

This functional and “cool to carry” slow cooker is going to be nearly perfect for just about any situation for as long as you can keep the lid hinges working. We originally had issues with the lid hinges breaking on ours, and that’s the main reason we switched to the older style basic model. However, my mother-in-law got us this newer model with the hinged lids and programming functions, and we have had it for about six years and it is still working just fine. So I think the hinge issues were with earlier versions of this Crock Pot.

The programmable Cook and Carry Slow Cooker has a built in clock so that you can time the cooking of your food without being present. This slow cooker also has a “keep warm” feature which is very handy. If everyone in the family is not ready to eat at the same time, the keep warm function is perfect. This setting kicks in automatically after the cook time has completed. This means you do not have to be around to ensure that your meal never overcooks, and is always warm and ready-to-eat.

In addition, the digital countdown timer lets you run your cook time anywhere from 30 minutes to 20 hours, which gives you a lot of flexibility over older models.

Also, many of the more than 600 Amazon reviewers who purchased this product love the fact that there are locking clamps on either end of the see-through, oval shaped lid. This combines with the extra-wide handles on the base to make transportation mess-free. You also don’t have to worry about carrying a hot pot, as the SCCPVL610-S is insulated for cool carrying. The removable oval stoneware pot is stylish in appearance, as well. These features make it the perfect Crock Pot for transporting to a carry-in or potluck dinner.

This is a great product for both single adults and busy families of all sizes. The cool carry, auto-warm, lid clamping and 20-hour cook features are characteristics typically found on much more expensive slow cookers.

For the price tag, the one-pot convenience and simple cleanup of this basic and attractively priced slow cooker is going to be all that most families need. If a more highly functioning programmability is important to you, you may find the Instant Pot a better investment long term.

[…] The Instant Pot (<– that’s my review) makes it so easy to do so many tasks, and so much quicker to cook certain things with the pressure cooker function. For instance – did you know that making hard boiled eggs that peel perfectly is super easy with the Instant Pot? And in fact, anything you like to make in your crockpot, pressure cooker, or rice cooker can be made in your Instant Pot instead. […]
