A World of Fear
It is far too easy to be fearful these days. Whether it’s anxiety over life circumstances, internal turmoil, or the flood of news reports that haunt our days, fear is everywhere. Fear is also just a part of the human condition. It keeps us up at night and causes great anxiety. Young children go through phases where they can’t seem to escape it at night.
However, fear is not part of the Christian condition. As followers of Christ, we are not bound by fear. We are bound by Him – light, love, and truth. The best defense and offense we have against fear in our hearts and homes is the Word of God. It is with the sword of truth that the Spirit of God will fight our battle against fear.
How can we claim this weapon for our own in these times? How can we protect and equip our children against fear? By hiding God’s Word in our hearts and washing our children with it every single day.
Conquering Fear

Hide God’s Word – Print out the scripture cards and begin to memorize them yourself and perhaps with your children. Printing on card stock or laminating them makes them sturdier. You could put them on a book ring and attach them to your keys or purse, tuck them in your Bible for daily memory work, memorize them with your family during mealtimes, or whatever system is best for you.
See God’s Word – Print out the scripture posters and post them somewhere where you and your children will see them often. For example, you could put the Do Not Fear poster on your mantle and hang the Sweet Sleep poster in your child’s room. Seeing these powerful verses on a regular basis embeds them in your hearts and minds!
Use God’s Word – In moments of fear or anxiety, cover yourself with these scriptures, reciting them in your head or aloud. Pray them over your children before bed or difficult situations. Recite the scriptures with them when they wake up at night. God’s Word is truly powerful!
Do Not Fear!
Moms, these scriptures are for your heart. No matter where you are or what is going on in your life, the Lord is inviting you and your families to be free from fear and bound only by His love and goodness. Will you trust Him?

“If you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down your sleep, will be sweet. ” The scripture reference should read Proverbs 3:24 ESV

Fear grips so many and robs us of the peace that we should have as Christians. I shared this post in my prayer group. Some may come who aren’t homeschoolers. You are doing a great thing sharing these promises with people.
