Fall is here, and as we head into cool weather it’s time to start layering and accessorizing with sweet but useful additions to our wardrobe – things to take the chill off and warm up our outfits. I’m kinda in love with this list of accessories, but I’d also love to know what you would add! (A girl can never have too many fashion accessory ideas up her sleeve.)

Scarves – A Perfect Fall Accessory

One of my favorite ways to make an outfit “fall-ish” is to dress it up with a scarf to hold in some heat around my neck while adding a bit of style. Scarves can be used to give your outfit a splash of color *or* they can be used to tie all the colors in an outfit together. This beautiful scarf from Anika Dali can be used with jeans for a casually dressed up look, or it can be worn with dressier clothes for a night out or business conference.

The Leg Warmer Trend

I had forgotten how so many fashion accessories circle through history and re-appear. Leg warmers are a fun favorite from the 80s, but I happen to think today’s leg warmers look so much better! I especially love these cute but thick “boot topping” leg warmers for fall.

Speaking of Boots – Best Fall Accessory Ever!

So I probably should have saved this one for last. I just love the look of tall boots with jeans, or short boots with jeans, or just boots with anything really. Wearing boots makes me happy. In fact, my husband and I were just window shopping for some cute boots for me this past weekend. It’s time girls!

This is the pair I picked out last weekend. I always buy Clarks, because I need super comfortable and supportive shoes but I refuse to give up on cuteness. The advantages of Clarks are comfort, quality, and cuteness!

Adorable Socks

I have a penchant for wool socks. My mother-in-law knows this, and blesses me with awesome Smartwool socks at Christmas time. I also keep an eye out at my local stores and will pick up a pair or two when they go on sale. Every time they go on sale. Okay – I stalk the shelves for wool socks on sale and buy all the socks – one of each design. Okay, okay . . . I have a sock fetish!

I actually wear my wool socks year round whenever my feet are cold, but they come out in full force in the fall because that’s when I wear real shoes out in public instead of flip flops. And they look so cute in open heeled chunky shoes too. (That link says $9.99 to $349.99. Seriously? Who buys $350 socks? They aren’t worth that much. Just pick the ones that are between $10 and $20 and trust me, they are worth that.)

New Purse, New Color

I love handbags. Usually when I say that, people think I probably spend good money on handbags. I don’t, but not because I don’t want to! I do love to get a new purse in a new color with the transition from summer to fall. Purses are a great way to add a splash of color to any outfit – and they are multi-taskers!

I have a top ten best purses for moms wishlist but I thought I’d take another look at my options with fall upon us. I was guessing they’ve introduced some new colors! The one I found was actually a dual-toned neutral by ANIMOER. And I love it. (HINT: We are giving away a gorgeous COACH purse at the bottom of this post. Enter.)

The Statement Jacket

Okay maybe that should say “the jean jacket” because those are my favorite fall jackets. The thing about jackets in fall is that they are mostly about the cuteness of the extra layer. Much more an accessory than a winter jacket which is mostly for warmth!

The Cute Hat

Nothing says fall like a cute little hat – plus it occasionally helps with the hair situation. I always look at other ladies wearing hats and think, “Oh that’s so cute!” but for some reason I never buy one for myself. A friend of mine was wearing a cute little beanie like this one this weekend and I thought it was just the perfect fall accessory for the slightly cool days.

Love this post. Great boots. I also have to wear comfy shoes due to some foot issues. I have yet to try Clarks but these may be my new Fall boots:-) I will add OPI You Don’t Know Jacques nail polish to the list. It’s a great Fall color. It doesn’t look like much in the bottle or online but it has grayish/purple hue that looks great on. I get compliments ever time I wear it.

Nail polish is a great idea! I love the one on my toes right now. It is a deep burgundy wine color called Opi Miami Beet. I took a picture of the bottle so I would remember the name of it. Love it. I’ll have to check your color out the next time I get my nails done!

Living in the south, the temperatures really do swing during fall, like yesterday started in the low 40s and ended in the mid-70s, so my best fashion tip is wear lightweight layers so you can remain comfortable through the day.

Those Clarks boots look fabulous! I have a hard time finding well-fitting shoes or boots. I admit, I’m pretty much jeans, tshirt, and flip flops year round (I’m in Texas) and the main thing that gets more use in fall is leggings with skirts or dresses.

Our Latest Shenanigans

See these pretty little plants playing peekaboo? I See these pretty little plants playing peekaboo? I thought they were goners. See, my sister gave us the bulbs for Asiatic Lillies for Christmas last year, down in a bag full of dirt and told us to take them home and plant them in the cold so they would rest and come back next year. Or freeze them. I did neither. I knew we weren’t in our own home yet, and we were hoping to move into our forever home this summer, so I threw them in the closet and waited. They stayed dormant, and started to develop roots in the Spring, still in the bag in my closet. Come June 5, we moved into our new house, and I pulled out the bag around June 15 to plant them and found that the roots were turning to mush. The bulbs were starting to rot. I planted them anyway, but to make matters worse, I accidentally planted them upside down because I thought the roots were actually sprouts. Oops. Then, I hired my boys and their friends to weed the bed where these are planted and forgot to tell them to leave these alone. The “sprouts” disappeared. I thought they were gone forever. Here it is the middle of August, and a week or so ago, I found these baby Asiatic Lillies coming up. I texted a pic to my sis to ask if this was what they look like. Sure enough after all that trauma, this gift survived. I won’t have blooms this year, but I’m told they will come back next year and survive to bloom. What a sweet blessing that will be, God willing. And a sweet reminder to persevere under trials and hardship. God is doing something bigger, something hidden, something better than we can ever imagine. Hang in there! #momlife #momfierce #momforthewin #firmlyplanted
Today I’ve been sorting through some heavy stuff Today I’ve been sorting through some heavy stuff, especially the unmasking of pedophilia and it’s prominence in the US and in our backyards. This horrifies and frightens me. I am so grateful to know that God will prevail. In the end, He wins.
