I found this verse in Deuteronomy while reading a different book, and I really love how God talks to Israel with this encouragement. How beautiful this verse is, and a reminder that God was (and is and will be) taking care of His people. He does not promise us lifelong prosperity, but the joy we have in Him will be everlasting.

“You shall rejoice before the LORD your God…You shall rejoice in your feast…the LORD your God will bless you in all your produce and in all the work of your hands, so that you will be altogether joyful.” – Deuteronomy 16:11-15 NASB

This year I am focusing on Joy. For real. I’m gonna do it this time. I’m gonna keep my focus on Joy every single day of the holiday season. Even if it kills me. (Just kidding.)

Do you need more joy? The busyness and distractions of the Christmas season can steal our joy. Why not make a commitment this Christmas to find JOY in the journey? It will change your perspective.

I collect reminders to choose Joy and spread them all over my house during the holidays. I find it super easy to get caught up in how far behind we are in our advent readings, how little baking we’ve done, how I miss friends from days gone by. I get distracted by fun craft projects, peanut butter fudge, charity shopping, and tree trimming.

All these wonderful things crowd my December and rob me of my joy.

So, this year… If I cannot do it joyfully I am Not Going To Do It!!!!

Rejoice in the Lord Always. And again, I say REJOICE. Philippians 4:4
