I’ve been talking about Scripture Memory quite a bit lately with the Five Days of Scripture Memory theme last week, but I have so much to say I couldn’t even finish in five posts. One of the things I have been wanting to share is my review of Philippians in 28 Weeks ($28.95). This curriculum was written by my good friend Stacy Farrell of Home School Adventure Co.
Philippians in 28 Weeks is not just a book, it is a concept. You can memorize an entire book of the Bible! You can do it!!! In fact using the techniques included in Philippians in 28 Weeks you can memorize any book of the Bible you choose. That being said, I am hoping that Home School Adventure Co. comes out with more books in this format for several reasons.
- Philippians in 28 Weeks includes a Bible study and journal questions.
- Philippians in 28 Weeks includes the complete text of Philippians with room to copy each verse.
- Philippians in 28 Weeks includes removable cards to practice the memory work. and
- All the work is done for me. I don’t have to make my own cards, or write my own Bible study, it’s ready to go.
As I have mentioned several times, my daughter Clara will be working through Philippians in 28 Weeks this year as part of her Bible curriculum. I want her to know that memorizing an entire book of the Bible is possible. I want her to be a walking epistle for Christ. Just to make sure I wanted to use the curriculum with Clara, I have been working through the material on my own. I am happy to say that this method works and is as painless as Stacy said it would be.
My Bottom Line: Philippians in 28 Weeks makes possible something I have wanted for myself and my family for many years. We will memorize an entire book of the Bible before the end of this school year. That’s a big deal. Furthermore, I will seal in the hearts of my children the surety that they can memorize Scripture by the book — I look forward to memorizing even more books of the Bible with them in the future.
