The Big Book of History by Master Books is a fold out timeline of all history from a Biblical/Creation perspective. It stretches out quite far as you can see from this picture. It is fairly simple to open four pages at a time at home. The book is hardcover and the timeline is folded accordian style and only attached to the back cover so that it is less likely to tear.

The book can be read in the traditional style two pages at a time as well and each two page spread features short bios, interesting information and historical detail for happenings around the world.

The illustrations and line drawings are beautiful and eye-catching for children. The information is very brief, the book is not intended to replace a full history text. However, lesson plans are available online for free! With the lesson plans you could teach a full year overview of world history with a biblical worldview.

“Wow, this is so cool!” were the first words out of my son’s mouth (age 10) and I think that is a pretty accurate assessment. It is fun to glance through the book and pick up tidbits of information. It is even more fun to find the time period surrounding something we are studying in our other material and figure out what else was happening at the same time. My children are enjoying this book and they are fascinated by the fold out aspect.  ( LIke Napolean and Lewis and Clark were roughly thirty-five years apart.  How cool is that!)

My Bottom Line: This book is gorgeous and very well done. It should not be given to younger children for free browsing because of sturdiness. The fold out timeline is very heavy paper and the cover is great but I am worried about long term tearing if the younger children are careless with it. I love this book and it will get lots of use in our household. Definitely recommended.

I liked your review. Have you seen the history books by Ruth Beechick? Adam and his kin and World history made simple. I also have an apologetics book: Evidences for God and his Creations
