Make cross painted rocks during Passion Week to help your family focus on the sacrifice God’s son made. One of the most important Christian holidays for families is Easter Sunday. Easter commemorates the resurrection of Jesus.
Without a resurrection, there would be no redemption, no Gospel message, no salvation story. Sharing the incredible message of God’s love and the gift of salvation with our kids should be the top priority for this holiday. Your family will also enjoy making our stained glass LEGO® cross.
Start a New Tradition This Year!
Easter rock painting is a wonderful tradition to start with your family. Use the symbols of the holiday to help your family keep focused on Christ during this special time of celebration. Over the years you can develop a nice collection of painted Easter rocks to treasure. Easter cross painted rocks also make a wonderful gift for teachers and friends, and it’s easy to make several to share.
Painting rocks is fun! Finding special rocks in random places connects us to each other in spite of distance. It has the magic of a message in the bottle, with a higher probability of being found. Lots of friendly people are decorating rocks and placing them on hiking trails, in geocaches, in parks and playgrounds, and in other high traffic areas.
Finding a special rock is always a treat. Cross painted rocks are a beautiful way to brighten someone’s day. At the same time, these rocks are a non-threatening way to share your faith and hopefully inspire someone to look at the true message of Easter more closely.
How to Make Painted Easter Rocks
Making Easter painted rocks is pretty easy. You’ll need small stones. Look in these places or purchase if you don’t have access to any at home. In addition to the rocks, you’ll need acrylic paints or acrylic paint pens, a little dish soap, and a finishing spray of clear acrylic to seal the paint.
Pick paint for your Easter cross painted rocks according to the colors you love. You definitely do not have to follow our color themes to make beautiful story stones. Choose the paint colors that speak to you and make you happy. If you are giving the rocks as gifts, you could tailor the colors to the recipient if you know what they like.
