How many of us are struggling to get our kids out the door when it’s time to go to the pool?

I know for us it’s a constant uphill battle. Get your shoes. Get your towel. Where did you put your shoes? Put sunscreen on your brother’s back. Let’s go, let’s go. It takes us an hour or more to get out the door sometimes.

I’ll tell you what though – going to the pool with my kids is worth it and we make it a priority. Kids at the pool are getting out in the sun and getting exercise and those are just two of the benefits of going to the pool during the summer months.

Just the thought of a pool day can be highly stressful if you don’t have a plan. But at our house we go to the pool almost every single day during the summer. I had to come up with a good plan to streamline the process of getting ready for the pool and streamline the pool experience to make it positive for all of us. Mama doesn’t need extra stress! That’s why I came up with my list of twenty tips for moms at the pool and the free pool checklists you can grab below.

Getting out the door to the pool can be stressful. Here is a FREE printable pool checklist for getting the kids on their way to the pool.

This fun, free, printable get-ready-for-the-pool-checklist is perfect for kids ages 4-10! Just laminate one for each child and hang it on the wall. We have several options for the format, including picture-based with a snack free option and word-based with options for trunks or swimsuit. Each child can work through the list and mark things off with a wipeable crayon or marker before you walk out the door! It puts the ball in their court – and getting ready for the pool can include a lot less mom-barking and a whole lot less time.

Using the printable checklist with your child will take a few days of training. It is not an instant fix. But with some work and consistent use of the checklist, your pool prep will be much faster and less stressful!
