These are not your ordinary free printable Thanksgiving puzzles. These puzzles do not focus on the historical American first Thanksgiving, or the fun modern traditions like pumpkin pie. Instead, in our free printable Thanksgiving puzzles you are going to find words that honor God and the gifts He has given us. If you are looking for something a little more traditional, you might enjoy these free Thanksgiving coloring pictures.
This set includes a free printable Thanksgiving word search, and a free printable Thanksgiving crossword puzzle. Each puzzle is illustrated with a beautiful fall wreath to add colorful appeal to the games and focuses on the faithfulness of God. My two nine-year-old twins were able to work both of these free printable Thanksgiving puzzles without any struggle. Each puzzle has the same 12 words to find or figure out. In addition, we’ve included a printout listing each of these words with an appropriate Bible verse reflecting on what the word has to do with God’s faithfulness.

These printable puzzles go beautifully with our free printable Bible verses to read for Thanksgiving, and will help your children learn to be grateful for all that they’ve been given. I’ve been finding that doing thankfulness activities with my kids is helping them get their minds off of themselves and overcome the character issues related to selfishness. These activities have been a huge blessing in our home.
Use the Bible verses included to get your kids talking about God and the gifts that He has given us. Take some time to read the verses together as you work through the puzzles. Once the puzzles have been completed, mount them on card stock and hang them around your home to add to your Thanksgiving decorations to serve as a reminder of the activity and God’s faithfulness.
You could also add them to a small binder with other Thanksgiving worksheets and coloring pages your kids complete to create a small Thanksgiving memories book. Then store it with your Thanksgiving decorations or supplies (like the turkey pan) so you can pull it out each year and enjoy looking back on the work of years past, and add to it each year!
While I am quite happy to celebrate a very American Thanksgiving with my family — turkey, stuffing, rolls, and talk of pilgrims — I also want to make sure they get the biblical foundations for this holiday and the fact that it was not originally about thanking each other or thanking some unknown entity, or giving to others as some would have us believe. It is and always has been a holiday about thankfulness to God. That’s the first and most important focus! And in searching for resources that would help me create this focus in our home, I found a severe lack! That’s why I’ve created these free printable Thanksgiving puzzles focused on God’s faithfulness for our family, and why I’m sharing them with you here.
Please accept this printable as our free gift, and my prayer is that it will be a blessing to your family.
