My kids LOVE oatmeal. Especially of the sweetened variety. And, it just so happens most of my kids are also fans of pumpkin spice. No surprise there. Therefore, making Instant Pot Pumpkin Spice Oatmeal for breakfast is a special treat. This Instant Pot oatmeal would make an awesome, easy, and fast holiday breakfast! Just in case you landed on this post but don’t really like oatmeal, we have a huge list of easy Instant Pot breakfast recipes for you to check out.
I love how fast it is to make homemade oatmeal in the Instant Pot. Just five minutes to make enough for everyone! Sure beats microwaving individual servings one at a time for two minutes each and trying to remove 8 hot bowls without spilling. Also, it’s so fun that everyone can add their own choice of “mix-ins” to the oatmeal. If you have kiddos who don’t like pumpkin spice, just leave that out. What could be more perfect?
I know this is going to sound weird, but my kiddos have even been known to grab a bowl of oatmeal for an afternoon snack or midnight snack. It’s not just an Instant Pot breakfast option. Instant Pot Pumpkin Spice Oatmeal would make a very filling and fun, seasonal after-school snack for your crew!
How long does it take to cook oatmeal in an Instant Pot?
Our Instant Pot pumpkin spice oatmeal is ready in just five minutes, once the pot comes to pressure. If you preheat the IP, it won’t take more than 10 minutes for the pot to come to pressure. That means breakfast is ready in just 15 short minutes! If you are used to making oatmeal for eight people in the microwave in individual bowls, that’s a minimum of 16 minutes just counting cooking time.
Add the extra minute of rest (for microwave oatmeal packets, it is supposed to rest for one minute) for the last person, and it’s at least 17 minutes before everyone has a bowl of oatmeal in front of them to eat. Add to that the time it takes to pour each packet into the bowl, measure and add milk, and pull each hot bowl out of the microwave carefully and you are up to at least 20 minutes of standing in the kitchen and working.
If you use our recipe, once you measure ingredients into your casserole dish, place that into the pressure cooker as shown above, and start the thing, you can walk away. Yes! Walk away, and when you come back fifteen minutes later, just scoop the yummy Instant Pot pumpkin spice oatmeal into bowls and serve. So easy. And no hot bowls! Have I mentioned how much I hate pulling hot bowls of oatmeal out of a microwave? Just checking. You can let the casserole dish full of oatmeal completely cool before you ever have to touch it.
