Here’s a fun crafting adventure you can enjoy with your preschool and Kindergarten age children! Use Minecraft to Teach the ABC’s. And when you are done with that, you can actually have them start building three letter words! Another great crafting adventure for this age is Learning about Farm Animals with Minecraft.

Abc-Minecraft-1

For each letter of the alphabet, you can have your child build the actual letter with blocks. Then, you can have your child find something in Minecraft that starts with that letter. And yes, there is at least one thing for every single letter. 🙂 Also, you can have your child create building collections for each letter. Here is an example crafting adventure for the letter R:

  1. you can build the letter
  2. you can find things that start with that letter
  3. you can build a raft, a roller coaster, something round, something red, etc.

If you can do this for every single letter of the alphabet in the same world – you will have an Alphabet world!

Side note: We didn’t let our boys get on Minecraft® computer edition in preschool, but I do think letting them work with you for this kind of guided lesson would be fun. Some of the alphabet letter objects in this post are not included in the Minecraft Pocket Edition®.
