Winter is such a fun time of year; you get to celebrate holidays, bring trees inside and decorate them, send holiday cards, and more.

One thing I love is creating winter essential oil blends to diffuse that remind me of the season. I love to have crisp scents that warm me up on a chilly day, and these winter essential oil diffuser blends below will do just that. There are a few Christmas blend recipes in this post – but if that’s what you are looking for, we created a whole separate post just for Christmas Blends for the Diffuser too!

How to Know If the Essential Oils Will Blend Well

I often get asked how do I know if scents will go well together. This is the way I test out blends before adding the essential oils into my diffuser. I simply pick out the oils I am debating on, open them up and then hold them in my hand and smell. You will get a mix of their scents, and you can see how you like it. Or add a drop of each in your hands or on a paper towel and then sniff.

You can create any scent you want by mixing as many oils as you choose. Get creative and try blends and see how it goes. There is no wrong blend to use; it is all about the scents you enjoy when they combine.

When it's cold outside, there is nothing quite like having crisp scents to warm us up. Essential oils are perfect for that. Take a look at these essential oil diffuser blend recipes that are perfect for the winter season - in addition to a few recipes to help build your immune system during the cold winter months.

My Favorite Winter Essential Oil Blends for the Diffuser

All of these blends are great for your home, office, or even traveling and diffusing in your car. I have some seasonal scents and at the bottom, you will find blends for if you are feeling under the weather, to help give you a boost.

Winter Blues

If you are feeling down, try this blend; it is a great mood booster for the winter blues.

  • 4 drops Petitgrain Bigarade
  • 2 drops Juniper
  • 2 drops Orange

Spiced Chai

Nothing is more comforting than a cup of warm spiced Chai, and that is what this blend reminds me of.

  • 3 drops Cardamom
  • 1 drop Clove
  • 1 drop Orange
  • 1 drop Cinnamon

Orange Woods

A citrus blend with a woody scent paired with it. Really refreshing, and screams winter weather to me.

  • 2 drops Cypress
  • 2 drops Spikenard
  • 2 drops Orange

Spiced Cider

I love spiced cider, and this blend is similar to the smell. Granted, you don’t use an apple oil for it, but you still get the illusion of the apples in the fragrance.

  • 3 drops Ginger
  • 2 drops Cinnamon
  • 1 drop Orange

Woodsy Blend

Love the smell of trees in the winter? Then try this diffuser blend.

  • 2 drops Grapefruit
  • 1 drop Pine
  • 1 drop Black Pepper

Fire and Ice

This is a neat blend that offers a soft and spicy scent that acts like a fire and ice blend, hence the name!

  • 4 drops Peppermint
  • 3 drops Cinnamon

Sweater Weather

This is such a warm and cozy scent that makes you want to curl up under a blankie and read a book or watch a good movie.

  • 3 drops Eucalyptus
  • 2 drops Juniper Berry
  • 1 drop Sage

Candy Cane Lane

Can’t go wrong with this candy cane lane blend; it smells like a delicious candy cane!

  • 3 drops Peppermint
  • 1 drop Cinnamon Bark
  • 1 drop Spearmint

Christmas Tree

If you want the smell of a Christmas tree in your home, try this blend. It is a very woody scent, as pine is the base scent.

  • 3 drops Pine
  • 1 drop Patchouli
  • 1 drop Clove

Christmas Spirit

This blend always makes me feel like there is snow on the ground and Santa is about to come and deliver presents. It is such a wonderful Christmas blend.

  • 4 drops Spruce
  • 3 drops Cinnamon
  • 3 drops Orange

Joy Of The Holidays

This is a very relaxing and inviting scent that I think helps lift the spirits for the holidays. This offers a spicy, woody, and sweet scent to fill up your room!

  • 3 drops Frankincense
  • 3 drops Orange
  • 1 drop Peppermint

Congestion

Now, if you have a cold or flu, try this blend to help eliminate that congestion that has you down!

Germ-Away

Help keep your home free from those cold and flu germs floating around. Diffuse this blend to help cleanse the air in your home.

  • 3 drops Lemon
  • 2 drops Ginger
  • 2 drops Frankincense
  • 2 drops Orange

Immune Support

Help keep your immunity up this winter with this essential oil blend. I generally diffuse this once a day, or if I feel we are coming down with something, a few times a day.

  • 1 drop Orange
  • 1 drop Clove
  • 1 drop Rosemary
  • 1 drop Cinnamon
  • 1 drop Eucalyptus
